Tucker - Adopted

Male
Black Labrador Retriever mix
Born 11/2017

Contact Kate at kmolsbe@gmail.com for more information about Tucker.

Tucker was found in 2018 wandering up in the Jemez Mountains northwest of ABQ - no ID or microchip. A good samaritan found him and brought him back to ABQ but could not keep him, so he came into rescue. Tucker is a good dog and, like a lot of Labs, still has a lot of playful puppy energy, even at almost 3 yrs old. He loves, loves, LOVES to play with other dogs and needs to have one near his own size and energy level in his Furrever Home. He knows the right way to play and is not a dominant male, though in his current foster home he has 2 female Pit mixes whom he enjoys. He is great with kids but due to his size (60 lbs) and energy level should live with older ones (10+). Tucker has had a TON of professional training and has great sit, down, stay, settle and focus commands. Recently, he has been working with Trainer, Stephanie Barger, on "wait" and loose leash walking. He understands the command "slow down" if he starts to move too quickly or far ahead. He is super smart and enjoys one-on-one training. Tucker does really well in a crate, will eat his meals in one and also sleep quietly in one, and has lived with cats and a variety of fowl. Tucker's ideal home would be one with another dog buddy or two, an energetic owner or couple that can give him the daily exercise he needs, continuing to challenge him on commands while teaching him new things. He needs a secure fenced-in yard with a minimum 6ft high wall as he is curious, not an escape artist, just wants to see what is going on next door or across the street. Tucker promises to be a loyal and happy companion to his Furrever Family - he is just waiting for that perfect one! Could it be you?

Tucker's adoption will come with 2 free professional training sessions so his new owner(s) know how to work with him. If you are interested in meeting Tucker, please complete an application and send it to the person listed above. There is no commitment or guarantee for adoption, but an application allows for screening before setting up a meet & greet at a local park where social distancing can be maintained.

Because home visits are required, NMAF dogs cannot be adopted out of the greater Albuquerque / Santa Fe area.
